I agree 100%

and I also think it would be worthwhile for girls to realize that guys are objectified too. Look at Twilight and how we lust over shirtless, muscular men and how guys are given the impression that they need to be slim, athletic, and built like tanks to be attractive.

I think people should just be allowed to be themselves that personality, deep thoughts, and self-respect are more important than physical appearance Beauty standards for both genders are wacky.

as a Catholic, i wouldn’t go as far as completely rejecting physical appearance. we are believers in the Incarnation, after all. physical appearance—physical beauty—does exist, and it does play a role. but as you said, what matters is how much emphasis we place on its role.

to recognize that there is such a thing as physical beauty also means to accept that there probably are such things as standards by which that beauty is evaluated. (i was about to say “judged”)

the reality is that we are attracted by physical beauty—the looks, the sounds, the smells, the feels, the tastes. and there is nothing wrong with that, by itself. God created the world to be beautiful!

that really is the truth of the Christian proposal: every woman and every man is both body and soul. to love a woman is to love her, body and soul in totality. to love a man is to love him, body and soul in totality. true beauty is found in both body and soul, together.
